BENCH SCALE & PILOT STUDIES
How we stand out from our competition is EnviroTrac’s unique commitment to using cost-effective solutions and cutting edge technology, ensuring that our clients are provided with ways to reduce both time and cost from investigation phase to cleanup. Bench ScaleWe are continually striving to develop new and innovative solutions to provide the best quality service that meets our client’s needs. As an example of this commitment, EnviroTrac regularly conducts bench scale and pilot scale studies to demonstrate the viability of a process or procedure that has been selected for use at a site based on the feasibility assessments conducted, and to evaluate process design factors.

Bench testing generally assesses the treatability potential for the contaminant(s) of concern while pilot testing is a critical test of design parameters regarding the treatment of compounds of concern or process performance under site-specific conditions.EnviroTrac has coordinated bench testing to evaluate chemical destruction technologies for in-situ applications and in conjunction with proprietary treatment processes.

A pilot test is typically conducted to evaluate the applicability of the selected technology to a full scale application and provide the basis for determining projected operational parameters including, but not limited to, mass removal rates, well spacing, radius of influence, injection and extraction rates, design parameters and for estimating costs.

Examples of pilot studies conducted by EnviroTrac include:
  • Air sparge/soil vapor extraction
  • High vacuum extraction
  • Dual phase extraction
  • In-situ and ex-situ VOC stripping
  • Groundwater pump and treat
  • Thermally enhanced soil remediation
  • Free product recovery
  • In-situ chemical oxidation
  • Soil vapor intrusion mitigation
