Employee Highlight
Ron K.

Q: Where were you before you came to EnviroTrac (school/prior work experience)?
A: I was finishing up my degree at Stony Brook University, extremely looking forward to finding a new career path. I had been roofing residential houses in the summers since the 9th grade and continued with it full time after high school. About three years later I came to the realization that roofing was not in my best interest and the best path out for me would be to get a college degree. After five and half years of going to school full and part time while working, I obtained my B.S. in Geology.

Q: How long have you been here?
A: I started working for EnviroTrac in January 1995. I worked at the Deer Park, NY office for a year and half, and then had the opportunity to help expand EnviroTrac into FL. Joe and I spent a week in Tampa locating office space, meeting representatives from one of the major oils, interviewing key personnel for ET, and playing hacky sack in the Days Inn parking lot.

Q: What do you do here?
A: I mostly coordinate remediation and construction projects.

Q: Any hobbies, interests or causes?
A: My current hobby is hunting wild boar. In Florida, wild boar is a nuisance species that causes damage to crops and local landscaping. These are not the “Babe: pig in the city variety”; they’re not pretty but they taste good. Because they’re wild they’re not subject to the same overcrowded conditions, antibiotics, growth hormones, and meat irradiation that store bought pork goes through.

Q: Do you have a motto or favorite quote?
A: Say what you mean and mean what you say. Patton.

Q: Most influential person in your life, or someone that you really admire – real or fictional?
A: My father taught me to take pride in my work and that hard work is required to succeed in life.

Q: What’s the best part about being you?
A: Diaper changes at 3 am as my 3 month old daughter looks up at me and tries to talk.

Q: What advice would you give to someone graduating college?
A: First, trophies aren’t handed out just for showing up and secondly, don’t complain if you’re unhappy about where you are in life – do something about it.

Q: Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
A: Technically.
