Founded in 1993, EnviroTrac Ltd. is a New York State Corporation. EnviroTrac's associated design company, EnviroTrac Engineering P.E., P.C. is a registered New York State Professional Engineering firm. EnviroTrac is privately held and governed by a Board of Directors.

Joseph Patrick Byrnes – President and Chief Executive Officer
  • As founder of EnviroTrac, Mr. Byrnes is the CEO and President. Joe received his BS degree in Geology from SUNY Binghamton in 1984 and in 1993 he obtained an MS degree in Hydrogeology from SUNY Stony Brook. His professional career spans over 24 years.

    When Joe graduated from college in the early 1980’s the environmental field was very young and jobs were hard to come by. While working as a carpenter in the residential construction field Joe got his first opportunity with Roux Associates and was hired to travel the US and sample rivers and creeks for herbicides. Since then he has been fortunate to work on just about every type of environmental project involving a wide variety of contaminants and remedial techniques. Over the past few years his most exciting projects were investigating a large jet fuel spill in Bermuda and installing remediation systems for a Federal Superfund site in Wichita. Joe’s goals are to continue to grow EnviroTrac as an industry leader, diversify our clients and double our revenues by 2015. Joe states, “It is very important to me that our employees have the opportunity to grow with the company, that they are professionally challenged and most importantly have fun.”
John Buhagiar – Chief Financial Officer
  • John Buhagiar is the Chief Financial Officer of EnviroTrac Ltd. He received his BS degree in accounting from the St. John’s University College of Business Administration in NY. He has 25 years of professional experience as a Certified Public Accountant and has provided consulting services to the environmental and construction industries. John is responsible for financial planning, record keeping and financial reporting to the banks, bonding companies and higher management. He has worked closely with EnviroTrac over the past decade to help the firm accomplish its growth throughout the United States. Stimulating the growth and progress of EnviroTrac through teamwork is one of the main goals of the firm.
Theodore F. Masters – Vice President
  • Ted Masters studied geology at SUNY Binghamton, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1986. Ted has been working as an environmental consultant since 1988, joining EnviroTrac New York in 1994. His background includes working as a consultant with a diverse industry portfolio to include: agricultural chemical; industrial; petroleum refinery and distribution; nuclear energy; and, brownfield property development. He enjoys the many challenges and variety that the environmental consulting field and working at EnviroTrac are about. Ted is currently working on a project with some of our staff to monitor and mitigate vapor intrusion in over 100 homes located over a solvent plume in New York City. This area of expertise is rapidly becoming a standard for environmental investigations and he is very excited to get EnviroTrac on track to be at the forefront of this technology.
John Ferrill – Vice President
  • John Ferrill is a geologist with more than 20 years of experience in providing technical expertise and regulatory insight for both public and private clients. John studied geology at the Colorado College, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1984. John worked in the environmental/oil industry for several years then returned to graduate school, graduating with a master’s degree in environmental science and engineering from Colorado School of Mines in 1993. He has been working as a geologist/environmental consultant since 1985, joining EnviroTrac when they opened their Florida operations in 1996. John manages the Florida operations including the Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale offices. His background includes working as a consultant with petroleum, regulatory and industrial clients in addition to construction related services. John specializes in providing regulatory and technical advice pertaining to a broad range of environmental issues, including site assessment, remediation and regulatory compliance.
Douglas Lessing – Vice President
  • Mr. Lessing earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering (BSPE) from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio in 1984. Doug has over 23 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry. Doug started in the industry in 1987 working as a geologist for a small environmental firm in New Jersey. Doug then moved to Handex Environmental in 1989 where he began as a hydrogeologist and worked his way up to General Manager of their New Jersey operations. Doug moved to EnviroTrac in August of 2004 where he manages the South Plainfield, New Jersey office as the Regional Operations Manager. Doug maintains the following Licenses: NJ Subsurface Evaluator / Closure License, New Jersey N-2 Operators License.
Elizabeth Ruff – Human Resources Manager
  • Elizabeth Ruff is the HR Manager for EnviroTrac Ltd. She studied marketing and communications at Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 2004. She also holds a certificate in HR Management from the University of South Florida. Liz joined the EnviroTrac team in November 2005. She started out working as an assistant to the CFO and has worked her way through many different developmental roles here at ET. Liz is currently responsible for guiding and managing the overall provisions of our Human Resources policies, services and programs. Liz states “I strive to provide quality HR services to attract, develop, motivate and retain a diverse workforce within a supportive and fair working environment. My main goal is to make sure our employees are happy and that the company continues to be prosperous.”
Mark Skrobacz – Regional Operations Manager, Pennsylvania Office
  • Mark Skrobacz, a Pennsylvania and Virginia licensed professional geologist, has over 24 years of technical and management experience ranging from environmental and geotechnical investigations to remediation projects for private, government, and industrial clients. Mark graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a geosciences degree in 1986. Prior to joining the EnviroTrac team in 2010 as the Pennsylvania Regional Operations Manager, Mark directed the financial and administrative operational needs and provided senior technical oversight for six offices located in six states and assisted in executing a multi-million dollar portfolio of over 700 sites for a cost to closure contract. Mark specializes in the characterization and assessment of surface and subsurface environments; characterization and remediation of contaminated sites; regulatory consulting; and environmental contract development and negotiation. Mark is currently leading our oil and gas exploration efforts in the Appalachian region for the Marcellus and Utica shale market.
